Indian Removal Act: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4p2959.html
Prompt: During the period of Indian removal, American Indians were not given the rights of citizens and did not have a choice of whether to leave or not. Could this happen to you today? We have a belief of eminent domain which means the government can take the property of an individual for the sake of the common good. Federal, state and local units of government have this right. The Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution says that no property may be taken without just compensation. What do you think that means? What justifies the taking of personal property for the common good? Who should decide what is fair compensation?
